- Evolution and Faith with Professor Brian Kilbey | 7.30pm to 9pm
- In association with the Scottish Episcopal Church ‘Adventures in Faith’ Series, and to begin the second Lauriston ‘Environment Series’, Professor Brian Kilbey of Edinburgh University will present six evening talks on evolution and faith. These talks will take place each Monday from 26 October to 30 November 2009 at 7.30pm - 9pm

- St Salvador’s in Candlelight | 4pm to 5pm
- St Salvador's invite you to share in the peace of the candlelight, to be still and enter into the silence, to wander to different parts of the building. Come when you can and stay as long as you wish. The hour will begin and finish with some unaccompanied singing by the Edinburgh Taize Group.
- Open Air Nativity Carol Service. | 4.00pm
- Once again Edinburgh Churches Together are collaborating with the City Council and the Exile Choir to hold an open air carol service on Advent Sunday. Details can be found on the City's Winter Festival website: http://www.edinburghschristmas.com/content/nativitycarolconcert/2475/. As usual the Service will be hosted by the Lord Provost and led by some of Edinburgh's Church leaders. Please note however that due to tram works the venue has been changed to St Andrew's Square at 4.00pm on Advent Sunday, 29th November.
- Christ for All Nations - International Carol Service | 6.30pm
- There will be an International Carol Service at Greenside Parish Church below Calton Hill, hosted By Rev Andrew Anderson and led by a number of choirs from the ethnic minority churches in Edinburgh. This is a wonderful local celebration of the global church to start the Christmas season as we approach 2010 & the centenary of the 1910 World Missionary Conference held in Edinburgh. The service will last a couple of hours or so and is suitable for children - feel free to quietly come and go.

- Prepare for Christmas: Luke’s Christmas Story | 2pm to 4pm
- A thoughtful look at the picture and message at the beginning of Luke's gospel. This will be a good preparation for reflecting on Christmas and on a year of readings from this gospel. A time to be stimulated by the Gospel and by others. Suitable for all interested Christians and especially CREDL students (as a necessary part of the assignment for Course 1). Led by Jeff Bagnall (onetime Diocesan Adviser and teacher trainer). Cost £5.00 (cheques should be made payable to the ARCHDIOCESE OF ST ANDREWS AND EDINBURGH).

- The choristers at St. Mary's Cathedral are inviting anyone between the ages of 7 - 11 years old to come to the Cathedral and rehearse some carols with Duncan Ferguson (Master of the Music at St. Mary's) and Susan Hamilton (Dunedin Consort).
